Join the Penn-Del Chapter of the ISA as we make a huge effort to help the National Parks Department Flight 93 Memorial.  It's been almost twenty years since September 11, 2001.  On that day, two passenger planes were flown into the World Trade Center's Twin Towers and another into the Pentagon.  The fourth plane, believed to be headed to Washington, DC as well, was crashed into a field in Western Pennsylvania.  The passengers on that plane learned about the other attacks and decided to do what they could to stop the terrorists from reaching our nation's capital.  The thirty-three passengers and seven crew members gave their lives to prevent any further attacks that day.  This national memorial was created around the crash site in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County near Shanksville, PA.  It was dedicated in 2011 at the ten year anniversary of the attacks.

Since it's inception, trees were a major part of the design plans for the memorial.  The Penn-Del Chapter has offered to help correct a number of the issues with the trees that were planted, prune many of the trees located throughout the 2,200 acres that make up the memorial.  We are looking for at least one-hundred volunteers to help with this massive effort.  This is not just a chance to take part in a project at a national monument, this is an opportunity to help remember those forty individuals that lost their lives on that fateful day.

We are looking for volunteers to help with tree pruning, removals, root collar excavation, and possibly some replanting.  Most of the work can be done with hand tools, but we will still need chippers, chip trucks, a few aerial lifts, chainsaws, air knives, and air compressors.  We are also looking for financial sponsors to help make this all possible.  If you can't commit the time, please consider making a donation to our efforts.  The funds raised will go towards the purchase of food, water, and t-shirts for the volunteers.  Any additional funds will be donated to the Friends of Flight 93, a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to the awareness, education, volunteer support, preservation, and stewardship of the memorial.

The scheduled day for this event is April 27, 2020.  Please consider being a part of this event.
